DJ Lee: Inspired by the Bentley Community Learning Conference
May 4, 2026
As Bentley opens the call for proposals for the eighth annual Bentley Community Learning Conference (BCLC), reflections like DJ Lee’s offer a timely reminder of the value of learning with and from our colleagues. The 2026 conference will take place from July 20–22. Faculty and staff are invited to share their knowledge, facilitate workshops and explore ideas that strengthen our campus community.
Proposal submissions are open through May 21 at 5 p.m. Individuals as well as co-presenters are encouraged to participate by submitting a proposal here.

DJ Lee is a multi-year presenter at Bentley's Community Learning Conference. In 2025 he presented Leading with Heart: Cultivating Emotional Intelligence in Higher Education.
What keeps you coming back as a presenter at the Community Learning Conference?
I continue to return because I value the opportunity to share insights and lessons learned with colleagues across the Bentley community. The conference creates an open, engaged space where people are eager to learn from one another as they prepare for the academic year.
How has your experience as a presenter evolved over time?
My first experience was very positive thanks to the support and resources provided. Over time, I’ve grown more confident and comfortable facilitating discussions, which allows sessions to flow smoothly and encourages meaningful dialogue.
What insights did you gain from presenting last summer?
It reinforced how central emotional intelligence is to supporting both students and colleagues. Practices like active listening, empathy and creating space for vulnerability are leadership skills that deserve ongoing attention.
How does presenting benefit your work and the Bentley community?
It allows me to share strategies that strengthen collaboration and student support while contributing ideas that encourage inclusive leadership, thoughtful communication and self-awareness across campus.
