Resin Art and Time-lapses

With all of us spending a bit more time indoors these past few months, plenty have discovered new hobbies (or rediscovered old ones) to help keep busy. For Jaime Smith, senior program assistant in graduate academic services, that's meant diving into the craft of resin art.

"After having a gourmet fudge hobby-turned-business prior to relocating from my home state of Maine, I knew this time around I wanted a hobby that would add joy to my days without adding inches to my waist," said Jaime. "I've always been fascinated by resin art but never seemed to have time to learn the craft." Like many, the past few months of social distancing gave Jaime the perfect opportunity to immerse herself in her new passion.

In addition to teaching herself the craft of resin art, she's also rediscovered her skills for creating time-lapse videos and has used the technique to capture her new creative process (which you can check out on her Instagram below). Last month, she participated in a fundraiser with over 20 artists and music-makers to share her creative process with the world. Watch Jaime work!

Falcon Weekend Recap

This past weekend, the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement hosted its first virtual Falcon Weekend for students, families, alumni, faculty and staff. Though this year's festivities looked different in a remote setting, Falcon Weekend still brought over 600 members of the Bentley community together to reconnect for meaningful engagement.

Didn't have a chance to tune into the virtual events? Check them out on the Falcon Weekend Recap page below!

How About Some Trivia?

We've all gotten more acquainted with our laptops these past few months. But did you know that Bentley was one of the first schools in the nation to provide incoming students with portable computers?

In which year did Bentley start its laptop program?

Fair Trade Month
Did you know that October is Fair Trade Month? Though we unfortunately can't sample the great offerings of coffee and chocolate at the annual Fair Trade Fair on campus, the BSLCE Center will post information about fair trade all month on their Instagram account @bentley_bslce. Give them a follow!

Additionally, the center shared the helpful list below where you can find out more about fair trade and explore a few of their favorite fair trade products. Take a look!
