Bentley to open two new residence halls to extend and strengthen on-campus community
Bentley University has purchased and will renovate two apartment buildings directly adjacent to campus, which will increase on-campus housing at a time when students are showing record interest in living on campus. The new residence halls will offer 24 one- and two-bedroom apartments that bring more students into the vibrant on-campus community. It’s a move that highlights Bentley’s successful evolution from its history as a commuter school to the robust, place-based educational experience it provides today.
The strategic investment reflects Bentley’s belief that the well-being of students, who flourish when they feel connected to a thriving campus community, is the foundation of the university’s success.
“The demand for the remarkable return on investment of a Bentley education has never been higher, and we are enhancing our campus to ensure that momentum continues,” says President E. LaBrent Chrite. “Bentley is a top destination for high-achieving students, and we’re committed to providing a tightknit campus environment where they can thrive academically, physically and emotionally.”

The new residence halls will provide more on-campus housing at a time when Bentley is attracting more students than any time in its history. The residence halls, which will house 60 to 70 students, will include the amenities and support systems offered across all Bentley housing, including those provided by the Residential Center, Bentley Facilities and University Police. The twin buildings are located on Waverley Oaks Road directly across the street from the access road that winds through lower campus, with an improved walking path and updated shuttle bus route available to give residents easy access to classes and the rest of campus.
“When students are part of a lively, supportive campus community, it boosts their health and well-being and puts them in the best position to learn and grow,” says J. Andrew Shepardson, dean of students and vice president for Student Affairs.
The new residence halls are scheduled to open in time for the fall 2026 semester.
