Strategic Positioning Process Timeline Update

April 28, 2022

Dear Bentley Community,

In these final few weeks of the spring semester, I am appreciating the energy across campus as so many important achievements, programs and projects are celebrated before the school year comes to a close. We’ve accomplished a lot together this semester, and I remain grateful for the myriad contributions each of you makes to our community.

As we look ahead, I wanted to share an update to the timeline for our strategic positioning process. As I communicated last month, much work has gone into this vitally important process thus far, and I am tremendously excited about how inclusive and community-driven it has been. The Cabinet, Strategic Priority Committee co-chairs and I have been meeting regularly to synthesize the rich content that was shared in the four committee draft reports. With the consultation and support of the board of trustees, I want to let you know that this strategic positioning process will extend slightly longer, with a final deliverable to be shared with the board at the October 2022 meeting rather than in May.

This change in timeline reflects the fact that this community stepped up and delivered an impressive number of thoughts and ideas for the Bentley 2030 plan. As the Steering Committee began analysis and deliberation, it became clear that this process would benefit from additional time to review and engage with the community on the various initiatives and objectives prior to finalization of the plan. The board was fully supportive of this timeline shift, and they remain tremendously appreciative of the work and time you have all lent to crafting this important plan.

To begin our next round of engagement and to share updates on our progress, we will hold a Town Hall meeting for all faculty and staff on May 25. This summer will be a time for much deserved recuperation across this community, but we’ll want to ensure there are opportunities for feedback and engagement on the plan before we are swept up in the excitement of the new academic year in the fall. A save the date for the town hall will be shared from my office in the coming days, and I look forward to sharing more with you at the end of May.

Again, I am so grateful for how much thought has been put into this important process by our entire community. I am excited for our future, and confident that the road ahead for Bentley is bright.

Most Sincerely,
President
