Why does it take so long for some pharmaceuticals to get from the laboratory to the market? Why are costs so high for products and services in health care? In an industry where scientists and medical professionals often personify the Peter Principle by moving from their original competency into management, what can be done to address the problem?

In many ways, Bentley University’s Center for the Integration of Science and Industry (CISI) was established to answer many of those questions. In the video below, Director Fred Ledley, MD, outlines how the center integrates the business and scientific expertise at Bentley to provide students with a background that can help address many of the issues that confront businesses within the scientific and biogen communities. The university’s location in the heart of the industry, along Rte. 128/95, provides a further level of potential synergy in the form of guest lectures, corporate immersion and other opportunities.
