COVID-19

Off-Campus Students

We’re sorry that you have tested positive for COVID-19. We’re sure that was not the information you were hoping for. Please know that we at Bentley University have a plan in place to help keep you and the community healthy.

You will be completing your isolation period off-campus and where you chose to do that is up to you. Keep in mind that you should remain isolated from any other people (including family members). Anyone you spend time with during your isolation period is at risk of contracting COVID. They may also be considered a close contact and be required to quarantine.

Testing Done On Campus

Collecting a list of close contacts
  • You will be asked to provide a list of close contacts from the 48 hours prior to your positive test or symptom onset, whichever came first.

  • A close contact is someone with whom you were within 6 feet (whether masked or unmasked) while indoors for a cumulative total of 15 mins over 24-hour period.

  • This information is vital to the health and safety of our campus populations and you are expected to cooperate with this process. The intention in gathering this information is to help quickly prevent the spread of COVID-19 to others. We are not asking for this information in order to get you or anyone else in trouble.

Waltham Board of Health (WBOH)
  • You need to answer these phone calls! Not cooperating with the WBOH may result in referral to the conduct system.
  • The WBOH is who determines your isolation dates and ultimately releases you from quarantine. Please cooperate with them in this process.
  • Each case managed from the WBOH has a different contact number. If you need to reach them with questions, call the number that your original WBOH call came from.
  • WBOH will not ask for sensitive information like your social security number.
How do you get released from isolation?
  • The WBOH will let you and Bentley know of your anticipated release date.
  • DO NOT RETURN TO CAMPUS PRIOR TO DAY 11.
Subsequent testing
  • You will be excused from Bentley’s COVID screening test program for 90 days after your positive test.
  • Cancel all screening test appointments during those 90 days on the Health Portal. https://bentley.medicatconnect.com

Upload your positive test result to the Health Portal

If your positive test was done anywhere other than on Bentley’s campus, in addition to the guidance listed above for all other non-residential students, you must upload a copy of your positive lab result to the Health Portal at https://bentley.medicatconnect.com.  Ensure the upload is legible and includes the following information:

  • Name

  • Date of birth

  • Date of test

  • Test Result

You will not be allowed back on campus until your lab result has been uploaded and verified by the Health Center’s COVID Case Manager.

Close Contact

Those who are fully vaccinated, meaning it has been 14 days since your final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, OR those who are within the 90-day period since testing positive for COVID-19 do not require testing or quarantine. We do ask that you observe for symptoms of COVID-19 and contact the Health Center for further assessment should symptoms present.

You were identified as a close contact of a COVID positive person and now need to quarantine by order of the MA Department of Public Health. We’re sorry you have received this news. We’re sure that was not the information you were hoping for. Please know that we at Bentley University have a plan in place to help keep you and the community healthy.

You will be completing your quarantine period off campus and where you chose to do that is up to you. Keep in mind that you should remain separate from any other people (including family members). If you develop COVID during your quarantine, people you spent time with during that period may then need to begin their own quarantine and/or develop COVID.

  • This test must be done on day 5 or later to count for a quarantine exit test.
  • The WBOH/CTC accepts PCRs and Abbott BinaxNOW Antigen tests. No other antigen type tests will be accepted. You must have an official lab report. They will not accept a picture of a test strip or a screen shot.
  • Your case manager from Waltham Board of Health will give you an email address to send in your test result for their validation and clearance.
  • DO NOT SEND NEGATIVE TEST RESULTS TO THE HEALTH CENTER. They must be validated by the Waltham Board of Health.
  • Bentley’s testing program RN will email you during your quarantine to offer you an exit test option on campus. These tests are only done during the week and at set times/locations. If those times are not convenient for you, you may also schedule a test off campus at the time and location of your choosing.
