Want to thrive in college? Make sure to get outside the classroom and into some of your school’s traditions. A Student Voice survey found that college students who are involved in extracurriculars or events — even one to five hours a week — can boost their chances of being more satisfied and successful than classmates who aren’t.

At Bentley, the Office of Student Programs & Engagement (SP&E) works closely with the Campus Activities Board (CAB), a student-run organization that manages approximately 50 events each year.

“Our student organizations lead traditions that have defined Bentley for over 100 years,” SP&E Assistant Director Michelle Frizzell says of the 120+ student organizations on campus. “We believe that getting involved is crucial to student success. Joining clubs or attending an event is a chance to spark connections with people, do something you love or even try something new. And the earlier the better to start doing that.”

In addition to programs sponsored by the university or CAB, some events are tied to a student organization’s mission: Black United Body fashion show, Bentley Skating Club’s spooky skate, and the Arts and Performance Organization’s fall musical and spring play.

“With so many programs, events and opportunities, our goal is to create spaces where students genuinely feel like they belong,” says Frizzell.

Here are 8 Bentley Traditions That are Fan Favorites

Spring Day

This annual celebration happens in early April and draws thousands of Bentley students. The day kicks off with activities — from a mechanical bull, air-brush painting and inflatable wipeout — to food options like an Asian food station, pizza and a variety of food trucks

The event ends with a headliner concert. Among the past performers? Jack Harlow. Wristbands required!

Super Bingo

About 1,000 students typically show up for this high-energy Bentley tradition with themes like pajama night. In addition to some friendly competition, bingo players come for the prizes. Popular past prizes: a flat-screen TV, tickets to a New England Patriots game and a Dyson Airwrap hair styler.

And for local alumni who have FOMO after they’ve graduated? FOLD (Falcons of the last decade) holds an alumni Super Bingo event in Boston.

Breakfast by Moonlight

Before final exams begin, Bentley’s faculty and staff serve a delicious late-night breakfast to students. A tried-and-true tradition, it’s the perfect way to fuel up and take a study break. As one student joked: “I’m going to eat 100 pancakes!”

And yes, it’s so popular that Bentley had to put it on a t-shirt.

MLK Breakfast and Day of Celebration, Listening and Learning

This tradition goes back to 1986, starting as a dinner to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Held in January, it quickly evolved into a morning breakfast program that’s often sold-out. In 2024, it became a full day of interactive sessions connected to Dr. King’s principles.

For future generations of Bentley students, the day remains a call to speak up, get involved and carry MLK’s legacy forward.

Falcon Weekend

Nearly 2,800 Bentley community members came together in fall 2025 for Falcon Weekend — a celebration of Homecoming, Reunion and Family Weekend. Planned around the homecoming football game, weekend festivities include a tailgate village, food trucks, games and activities, carnival-style concessions, a beer garden and bingo brunch.

Falcon Walk Procession

Launched in 2023 and held on Move-In Day each fall, Falcon Walk is a procession of the incoming undergraduate class from the Bentley green space to the Arena.

Career Fair

Each fall and spring, Bentley students suit up and head to the Arena for the Pulsifer Career Development Center’s career fairs. The signature events attract up to 100 employers and 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Amid the networking and elevator pitches, students can stop by a photobooth for professional photos for LinkedIn. And students who need a break can head to a “recharge room” with fidget toys, coloring pages, mindfulness activities and reflective exercises sponsored by Wellbeing at Bentley and BentleyPlus.

Commencement 3D Numbers

During the week of commencement ceremonies, large 3D numerals representing the current graduating class year are placed outside on upper campus. A popular photo op for seniors, the life-size numbers are displayed with the library steps serving as a backdrop.

“Campus events are a primary opportunity for traditions and memories to be made over and over again,” says CAB President HaiLian Rowan ’26, a Corporate Finance and Accounting major. “CAB hosts events that foster a sense of belonging, a space to enjoy yourself and a chance unwind in the middle of an otherwise packed schedule.”

One of Rowan’s favorite events? Super Bingo. “It’s always a fan favorite next to Spring Day. It’s a simple event, people know what they’re getting when they show up, and yet it’s always one of our largest turnouts. People enjoy the anticipation of potentially winning a big prize. And we have fun with it with new themes and ideas each year.”

From Move-In Day to Commencement, traditions help define the Bentley experience. “Events are tailored to bring one another together through new and exciting, shared experiences that capture students’ attention,” Rowan says. “They’re tailored to bring one another together through new and exciting, shared experiences and create memories that last long after they’ve left Bentley.”
