Cue the megaphone-powered cheers and celebratory honks. Move-in day for Bentley’s Class of 2029 was anything but quiet, thanks to an enthusiastic group of orientation leaders, resident assistants and other Bentley community members who came to welcome the newest students to campus on August 28.

The approximately 1,200 undergraduate students in the Class of 2029 represent 35 states and territories and 43 countries, with 26% being first-generation students.

After unpacking and meeting roommates, first-year students — led by university mascot Flex the falcon along with a bagpiper — gathered for the Falcon Walk to process to the Bentley Arena for convocation, an annual ceremony to mark the official start of the college journey. Among the speakers welcoming the new class: President E. LaBrent Chrite and Student Government Association President Rebecca DePietro ’26. Dean of Arts and Sciences Jennifer N. Brown, new to the role as of this summer, was introduced and spoke alongside Dean of Business Sanjay Putrevu.

Move-in programming kicked off earlier in the week for groups such as international students, fall student-athletes and First-Year Defined Communities — groups of students with similar interests and passions who live and learn around a central theme or academic focus.

Before the start of the fall semester, the incoming class has the opportunity to acclimate to campus and dive into college life with a range of informational and social activities during New Student Orientation, which runs from Aug. 28 to Sept. 1.
