Bentley-Managed Systems
Bentley standard applications (Windows and Microsoft 365) are managed by IT services which automatically pushes and installs updates to the user. All other software updates should be managed by the user, i.e. Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, Java, and alternate web browsers.
Self-Managed Systems
Bentley managed systems aren't the only ones that need to stay up-to-date. Here are some great resources for keeping your personal systems updated and secure.
- Windows Updates
Microsoft handles updates for installed Microsoft products. To see how to turn on automatic updates for the various versions of Windows, go here. - Mac App Store (OS X)
Apple provides updates for the OS and App Store applications through Mac App Store. To see how to use it, follow this link.
Antivirus Software
- Bentley uses Microsoft Defender for our anti-virus protection, which is built into Windows 10 and Windows 11
Restarting to apply updates
- Restarting your machine is important to that updates apply. If you do not restart your machine on a regular basis, updates won't apply and errors can occur (should another application expect an updated version of another application).
