Waitlist Information

This year, the quality of our applicants resulted in a very competitive applicant pool. We anticipate a decision will be made regarding the waitlist between late April and the middle of May but we will make every effort to provide information before the May 1 national reply deadline.

Waitlist 101 - Virtual Information Session

Hear from our admission team about navigating the waitlist process. In this session, we discuss what it means to be on the waitlist, how the waitlist works, and what your next steps are in the process.

Now that the session has passed, you can view the recording below.

FAQs

What do I need to do first?

You will need to select a waitlist option via the Waitlist Response Form by April 11, 2025.  Login to your BentleyConnect portal to complete the form. The options are listed below:

“I accept my offer to remain on the waitlist for fall.”
If you select this option, you will be considered only for the fall semester.

“I am interested in the possibility of admission for Spring through the January Acceptance program"
(If you choose this option, we will let you know if we can offer you admission for Spring no later than April 30.)
If you select this option, you will still be considered for both spring and fall. By indicating an interest in spring, if you are admitted into the January Acceptance program and submit your enrollment deposit for the spring, you have priority if space becomes available in the fall.

“I decline the offer to remain on the waitlist.”
If you select this option, you will be removed from our waitlist.

If I choose to stay on the waitlist, when will I hear about a possible fall spot?

Please know that we will make every attempt to make waitlist decisions prior to the May 1 national deposit deadline, but this is not always possible. Since we cannot anticipate additional acceptances from our Waitlist at this time, it is important that you consider making plans to deposit at another college or university to which you have already been admitted. Since policies regarding deadlines differ from one institution to another, you may wish to contact your other college choices for information on deposit deadlines and refunds.

I’m interested in the January Acceptance Program option – how do I learn more?

To learn more about the January Acceptance Program, read through the Frequently Asked Questions here. If you decide you’d like to be considered for the January Acceptance Program option, make sure to let us know by indicating that on the response form in your BentleyConnect portal. If you select the January 2026 option, we will review your application again and may be able to offer you admission to the January Acceptance Program.

Is the waitlist ranked?

The waitlist is not numbered or ranked. After the response form deadline of April 11, 2025, has passed, our Waitlist Committee will review the students who have selected that they would still like to be considered for admission to Bentley University. The Waitlist Committee will complete a thorough review of these candidates’ academic and personal achievements and will then be able to select the most qualified students to fill the appropriate number of vacancies in the incoming class. As a reminder, there is no guarantee that Bentley University will be able or offer admission from the waitlist this year.

Is there anything I can do to demonstrate my interest in Bentley?

While we do not offer interview opportunities after a decision has been rendered, we do suggest that you take the time to submit a thoughtful waitlist response that explains your interest in pursuing your education at Bentley. Please forward any updated senior year grades that you have to the Office of Undergraduate Admission at ugadmission@bentley.edu.

Who can I talk to about my options?

While we know many students on the waitlist may be interested in doing an interview, we cannot offer a formal interview after an admission decision has been rendered. Please feel free to reach out to your admission counselor with any questions or updated information that you would like the Waitlist Committee to be aware of. You can find out who your counselor is here. If you would like to attend an upcoming information session or tour, you can visit our website to get that scheduled.

What should I do about financial aid?

If you are a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the US, you are eligible to apply for need-based financial aid, which may include federal and state grants, Federal Work Study, Federal Direct Loans, and/or Bentley Grants. Please make sure your application for aid is complete by checking your Financial Aid tab in BentleyConnect. A complete list of what we require to apply for aid may be found here. In the event we can offer you admission from the Waitlist, you will be asked to make a decision quickly, and there will not be adequate time to start an application for aid at that time. We strongly recommend that you complete their aid application and submit all required aid documents so that if we are able to offer you a spot off the waitlist, we can get you a financial aid award as soon as possible.

If I am offered a spot off the waitlist, will I receive a merit scholarship?

No, students admitted off the waitlist are not eligible for merit scholarships. However, need-based aid is available for U.S. citizens and permanent residents who qualify.
