Bentley University President Gloria Larson was named to the Boston Business Journal (BBJ) Power 50, an award designed to honor the region’s 50 most influential business people of 2012. Larson and other members of the 2012 Power 50 will be recognized during a special event on November 1^st in Boston.

In the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings of America’s Best Colleges 2013, Bentley University is ranked #4 among “Best Regional Universities - North.”  Bentley is also ranked among the Top 50 “Best Business Programs” in the country at #47. These two ranking categories are based on results from peer assessment surveys.

In the business specialties category, also based on results from peer assessment surveys,  Bentley’s Accounting program ranked #21 nationally and #1 in New England.

Bentley recently partnered with Zipcar, Inc., the world’s leading car-sharing network, to offer the transportation option to its community. The car-sharing option is now available for students, faculty, and staff ages 18 and older, as well as members of the local community ages 21 and over.

Fernando de Mello Barreto, Consul-General and former Brazilian Ambassador to Australia, will join the Bentley campus on Thursday, September 27to discuss the Brazilian economy today.

The $5,000 grant will be used to fund undergraduate research assistants working in the “health and industry” field. “This grant represents a healthy fusion between arts and sciences and business,” said Chris Beneke, associate professor of history and previous director of the Valente Center. “The foundation’s recognition of a business school’s role in academic research in the sciences should be applauded.”

Bentley University is one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features the university in the just-published 2013 edition of its annual college guide, "The Best 377 Colleges" (Random House/Princeton Review). Bentley is also named among the guide’s Best Northeastern Colleges.

After navigating Bentley University’s financial course through a band of economic conditions, Paul Clemente retired on July 1, 2012, after almost 11 years of service during which he strengthened the university’s financial position and maintained a continuous record of operating surplus.

Freshmen at Bentley University are learning that it’s never too early to start thinking about a career. In fact, career development is an essential part of the undergraduate experience, says Susan Brennan, executive director of University Career Services, beginning freshmen year. The university recently launched a Career Development Introduction Seminar (CDI 101), an innovative seven-week program offered to all first-year and transfer students.

Bentley University Professor Pierre Berthon developed the methodology to help determine which cities around the world have the most intellectual capital as part of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Global Talent Index (GTI). Professor Ian Cross, director of Bentley’s Center for Marketing Technology, coordinated the project.

The Bentley Police Department joined police departments from across the Commonwealth for the annual Massachusetts Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics cruiser convoy.
