President Larson and student Sarah Benson 11'  BS, MBA '12, joined an impressive cast of speakers and performers at the inaugural TEDx New England held at the WGBH studios.

As part of the Tufts Health Plan Speaker Series, the Center for Women and Business at Bentley University presented Judge Nancy Gertner, retired U.S. district court judge for Massachusetts. The program was held on October 26.

Today’s students rely on technology for both their academic and social lives, and though some see it as a barrier to concentration in the classroom, others, like Mark Frydenberg are embracing it as a key teaching strategy. It was this core strategy and belief that propelled Mark to rethink the former CIS (Computer Information Systems) Tutoring Lab, and transform it into the CIS Learning and Technology Sandbox, a state-of-the-art learning space that opened this fall in the Smith Academic Technology Center, room 234, adjacent to the Trading Room.

Wall Street, social activism, and the economy were fodder for discussion as a panel of faculty members hosted “#OccupyWallStreet: What's it All About?” on the Bentley University campus. To view a video of the entire discussion click here.

The free  program, “Educated, Trained, Or Called? Moving from a Business Education to a Satisfying Profession,” will be held on Thursday, November 3, from 3:35 to 4:50 p.m. in LaCava 375AB.

Liz Brown, adjunct assistant professor of law, taxation and financial planning, was named the first executive director of the Boston Forum of Golden Seeds, a network of angel investors (affluent individuals who invest capital for business start-ups) dedicated to funding early stage companies founded and/or led by women.

A team of Bentley students were awarded $1,500 and first place at the Travelers fourth annual Actuarial Case Competition.

Southern Illinois University (SIU) named the new Women’s Basketball locker room complex in honor of former coach Cindy Scott. Scott, who has served as Bentley assistant director of athletics for 14 years, was honored at a ribbon cutting on the SIU campus in October.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $73,731 grant to Bentley University for research by principle investigator Dominique Haughton, professor of mathematical sciences, to explore how the pharmaceutical industry can more efficiently allocate marketing expenditures to reduce costs to consumers.
