Bentley University Ranks #6 Among the Top Regional Universities-North; And One of Top 50 Best Business Programs in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report

In the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings of America’s Best Colleges 2012, Bentley University is ranked #6 among “Best Regional Universities - North.”  Bentley is also ranked among the Top 50 “Best Business Programs” in the country at #46. These two ranking categories are based on results from peer assessment surveys.

In the business specialties category, also based on results from peer assessment surveys, the Bentley Management Information Systems program ranked #18 nationally and #2 in New England.

CEEMAN to Present Champion Award for Responsible Management Education to W. Michael Hoffman, Founding Executive Director of the Bentley University Center for Business Ethics

The Central and Eastern European Management Association (CEEMAN) has selected W. Michael Hoffman, founding executive director of the Bentley University Center for Business Ethics, to receive a Champion Award for outstanding achievement in fostering responsible management education. The award will be presented at CEEMAN’s annual conference in Tbilisi, Georgia, September 21 to 24.

Bentley University Center for Women and Business Presents “M.O.M.: More Opportunities for Mothers”

The Center for Women and Business at Bentley University will once again present a workshop series for mothers who are weighing their career options. “(M.O.M.) More Opportunities for Mothers: Helping Women Professionally Refocus, Reinvent, Reconnect” is designed to assist women who are beginning to make decisions about the next phases of work and life. The five-week series runs on Tuesdays - September 20, October 4, October 18, November 1, and November 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bentley campus in Waltham. Mass.

China Medical Board Awards $149,000 Grant to Bentley University

The China Medical Board of the Rockefeller Foundation awarded a $149,000 grant to Bentley University.  Assistant Professor of History Bridie Andrews will use the funding to organize a conference on the history of medicine in China, scheduled for December 10 to 12 at Endicott House in Dedham, Mass.

Outstanding Scholarly Contribution Award Winners Announced

Bentley Provost Mike Page announced the winners of the 2011 Outstanding Scholarly Contribution Award at the recent General Faculty meeting. Otgo Erhemjamt; Jennifer Gillan; Kartik Raman; and Kristin Sorensen were singled out for their impressive research accomplishments.

Society for Business Ethics Presents Lifetime Achievement Award to W. Michael Hoffman, Founding Executive Director of Bentley University’s Center for Business Ethics

The Society for Business Ethics presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to W. Michael Hoffman, founding executive director of the Center for Business Ethics (CBE) and Hieken Professor of Business and Professional Ethics at Bentley University. Hoffman was honored for “Outstanding Service to the Field of Business Ethics” at the society’s annual meeting in August in San Antonio, Texas.

Bentley Police Sergeant Robert Lynn Inducted into Kenpo International Hall of Fame

Bentley Police Sergeant Robert Lynn was recently inducted into the Kenpo International Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, with more than 900 attendees from around the world. Kenpo Karate is a style of martial art, of which Lynn is an 8th Degree Black Belt, professor title.

“It was an extremely humbling experience to be in the same Hall of Fame with legends such as William Chow, James Mitose, Edmund Kealoha Parker, Elvis Presley, John Chow-Hoon, Nancy Cerio and others,” Lynn recalls. “My son Bobby was present during my induction, which meant the world to me.” 

Bentley University Launches General Business Core Requirement Using Enterprise Resource Planning Software from SAP

Beginning this fall, Bentley University will require all junior-year business students to take a Business Processes and Systems course.  A key component of the course is the use of SAP ERP software.

U.S. and International High School Students Explore Wall Street and Campus Life at Bentley University

A group of 45 U.S. and international high school students gathered at Bentley University this summer to get an inside look at the financial industry and a taste of college life. Wall Street 101 is a week-long residential business camp held on the Bentley campus in Waltham, Mass. First offered in 2000, the educational summer camp gained immediate popularity among future financiers and has been featured in USA Today and on CNBC.

The Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc., awarded scholarships to two Bentley students, presented at the MSCPA’s Annual Meeting and Recognition Reception. Alecia Coleman (Class of 2012) received the MSCPA Women in Accounting Scholarship; and graduate student Frederick Jao received the McGladrey Scholarship
