David Perry Named Chief Marketing Officer at Bentley University

Bentley University has named David Perry as Chief Marketing Officer. Perry has more than 20 years of experience in brand management, strategic marketing and communications across a broad spectrum of industries including healthcare, high tech, and consumer packaged goods. He joins Bentley from Seattle Children’s Hospital & Research Institute, where he served as Vice President of Marketing and Communications.

Bentley Takes First Place at FutureM College Face-Off: Social Media for Social Good

A team of Bentley University students took first place at the College Face-Off: Social Media for Social Good, a Boston-based intercollegiate challenge aimed at developing marketing strategies for non-profit organizations. The competition was held recently at the Microsoft New England Research & Development Center in Cambridge as part of FutureM, a week of events and discussions about the future of marketing.  Bentley, Emerson College and Harvard University were the three finalists. Other participating schools included Boston College, Boston University, Tufts University and UMass Boston.

Senior Aaron Sacks Receives 2011 SCORE/SBA Scholarship Award in Entrepreneurship

Bentley senior Aaron Sacks is the recipient of the 2011 SCORE/SBA Scholarship Award in Entrepreneurship. A Marketing major, Sacks won the competition for the $1,000 scholarship on the basis of his academic performance and entrepreneurial perspective. The competition is sponsored by the Bentley University Management Department under the leadership of management faculty members Jeffrey Shuman, Hans Thamhain, and Fred Tuffile. It is funded by the Herbert Low Scholarship and the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) a subdivision of the Small Business Administration (SBA). The award was announced at the SCORE Award Luncheon at Bentley on September 23.

Bentley faculty members Rick Oches and David Szymanski and senior Gregory Bucci are presenters at the 2011 annual meeting of the Geological Society of America, October 9 to 12 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Approximately 6,000 scientists are expected to attend.

Bentley University’s full-time MBA program has, once again, been ranked among the Top 100 business schools worldwide as part of “Beyond Grey Pinstripes” for its commitment to integrating social and environmental stewardship in both teaching and research. The McCallum Graduate School was ranked #58 globally and in the top five in New England.

In the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings of America’s Best Colleges 2012, Bentley University is ranked #6 among “Best Regional Universities - North.”  Bentley is also ranked among the Top 50 “Best Business Programs” in the country at #46. These two ranking categories are based on results from peer assessment surveys.

In the business specialties category, also based on results from peer assessment surveys, the Bentley Management Information Systems program ranked #18 nationally and #2 in New England.

Gary Hirshberg, Chairman, President, and CEO of Stonyfield Farms, will be the keynote speaker at the 17th Raytheon Lecture in Business Ethics at Bentley University on Tuesday, October 18, at 3:30 p.m. in the Wilder Pavilion, Adamian Academic Center. A reception will immediately follow the program, which is free and open to the public.

China Medical Board Awards $149,000 Grant to Bentley University

The China Medical Board of the Rockefeller Foundation awarded a $149,000 grant to Bentley University.  Assistant Professor of History Bridie Andrews will use the funding to organize a conference on the history of medicine in China, scheduled for December 10 to 12 at Endicott House in Dedham, Mass.

Society for Business Ethics Presents Lifetime Achievement Award to W. Michael Hoffman, Founding Executive Director of Bentley University’s Center for Business Ethics

The Society for Business Ethics presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to W. Michael Hoffman, founding executive director of the Center for Business Ethics (CBE) and Hieken Professor of Business and Professional Ethics at Bentley University. Hoffman was honored for “Outstanding Service to the Field of Business Ethics” at the society’s annual meeting in August in San Antonio, Texas.
