*Hear what prominent business leaders are saying about the Center for Women and Business at Bentley University and their reactions to the results of a nationwide survey of college-educated men and women ages 18-30 that explored their interest in pursuing business careers and their perceptions of how hospitable the business world is to women.*

Bentley University, one of the nation’s leading business schools, announced the launch of the Center for Women and Business to advance shared leadership among women and men in the business world and develop women business leaders.

David Gergen, a prominent commentator, editor, professor, best-selling author and adviser to four presidents, addressed more than 1,000 Bentley University undergraduates at the 92nd commencement ceremony on May 21, 2011. Speaking to an estimated audience of 9,000 attendees, Gergen urged graduates to step up and become a new generation of leaders who can save America.

In a heartfelt program on May 3, Bentley Service-Learning Director Franklyn Salimbene named six student recipients of the 2011 Sandy M. and Harry G. Adamian Community Service Awards. The Adamian Award honors the memories of Sandy Adamian and her son Harry, who were committed during their lives to community service programs in Watertown, Belmont, and surrounding communities. The recipients, chosen for their outstanding commitment and dedication to service in 2011, received a plaque and a $500 citation.

A team of Bentley University student researchers from the Bentley Service-Learning Center and the University Honors Program is working with the Governor's Council to Address Sexual Assault

Geraldine "Gerri" Taylor, assistant dean for health and wellness and director of the Center for Health and Wellness, was appointed as a 2011-2013 American College Health Association (ACHA) Board of Directors Member-at-Large, effective June 3, 2011, at the Assembly of Representatives during the 2011 ACHA Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.

Gesa Kirsch, professor of English and co-founder of the Women's Leadership Institute at Bentley, was accepted to the Summer Institute for College and University Faculty, sponsored by the Institute for Humanities Research at Arizona State University, and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Professor of Psychology and Natural Sciences Helen Meldrum recently brought two experienced business leaders from Harvard Medical School's Institute of Coaching to speak to her Counseling and Coaching Methods course, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real world application. The Institute of Coaching is housed at McLean Hospital, located less than a mile from the Bentley campus, and is dedicated to advancing coaching research, education and practice. Coaching is defined as a change process that mobilizes strengths and realizes the potential of individuals and organizations.

On April 15, Boston Federal Reserve President Eric Rosengren formally presented the national championship trophy to the Bentley team that won the national title at the seventh annual College Fed Challenge in December 2010. Bentley team members, accompanied by faculty advisers David Gulley and Aaron Jackson, accepted the award at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

Roy "Chip" Wiggins, PhD, has been named Dean of Business and the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University, effective May 1, 2011. Wiggins began his Bentley career in 1996 as an Assistant Professor of Finance, and most recently served as Chair of the Finance Department and Director of the Bentley Microfinance Initiative.

Bentley University students are using technology to help teach English to students in Afghanistan, and to break down cultural barriers. Founded by Robert E. McNulty, director of programs at the Center for Business Ethics at Bentley, the one-on-one tutoring program offers language lessons via the web-based live-video service Skype.
