Bentley University’s commitment to supporting students’ mental health, wellbeing and overall college experience earned recognition this year by The Princeton Review. The education services company ranks Bentley No. 17 on their list of top U.S. universities for student support and counseling services.

The recognition is well-timed, as students arrive on campus to kick off the 2026–27 academic year, highlighting a network of resources designed to help them feel supported both socially and academically — and empowered to thrive during their college experience.

Why The Princeton Review’s Rankings are Especially Meaningful

Like Bentley’s No. 1 ranking for Best Career Services, the Student Support and Counseling Services ranking is based entirely on student feedback, making the ranking another way for students to communicate their widespread satisfaction with this aspect of the Bentley experience.

Students’ perspectives are central to the university’s approach to wellbeing, says Rebecca Jimenez, associate dean of Wellbeing and BentleyPlus. Jimenez oversees Bentley’s Counseling Center, Health Center and BentleyPlus programming.

“Student success begins with physical and mental wellbeing and building the skills that matter most in today’s workplace,” Jimenez says.

Bentley’s approach to student services is focused on helping students navigate challenges and creating a social atmosphere where wellbeing, connection and belonging are all part of the broader student experience.

Wellbeing at Bentley is an initiative aimed at helping students care for themselves, build meaningful relationships with peers, faculty and staff, and develop habits that allow them to flourish on campus and beyond.

A Support Network for Students

Bentley’s Counseling Center offers mental health support to students with both on-campus clinicians and external partners — all of which is included as part of tuition. Students can choose from initial consultations, short-term therapy and other resources including:

  • Teletherapy
  • Anonymous peer support
  • Assistance with finding external providers
  • Informal drop-in support

At Bentley, mental health support is available by phone 24 hours a day. Students can also access support through the Bentley Care Team, a multidisciplinary group of staff members across the university who can connect students experiencing personal difficulties with the right resources and services. Last academic year (2025–26), the Care Team fielded 410 referrals from Bentley community members seeking support for students.

This whole-campus approach is designed to help students excel while navigating academic, personal and social challenges that can be a part of college life.

“When students are part of a lively, supportive campus community, it boosts their health and wellbeing,” says J. Andrew Shepardson, vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students.

What Students Say About Bentley

Each year, The Princeton Review rankings provide a snapshot of how students across the U.S. experience their universities beyond of the classroom. In addition to landing in the top 20 for student support and counseling, students also gave Bentley high marks for its career services, campus operations and overall college experience.

Bentley ranked No. 1 for Best Career Services, No. 5 for Best-Run Colleges and No. 23 in the ranking category “Their Students Love These Colleges.”
