SharePoint FAQs

What changes in the transition from the ‘N’ Drive to Sharepoint?
Location: The location of your files will move from a server in Bentley’s data center to the Microsoft 365 environment, Sharepoint Online.  Your files will now be accessible by navigating to portal.office.com, logging in and clicking on the Sharepoint app.

Sites: The ‘N’ Drive was configured by division.  Sharepoint will not have a single division folder.  Each folder within the division will be a separate Sharepoint site.  The names of the folders will remain the same.  For each transition, the department will receive a chart that outlines the name of the ‘N’ Drive folder and the name of the Sharepoint site.

Will the permissions in Sharepoint be different than the ‘N’ Drive?
NO. The permissions from the ‘N’ Drive will be exactly the same in Sharepoint.

Can I save my Sharepoint site as a favorite for easier access?
Yes.  You can save your Sharepoint site as a favorite.  If you are not logged into your Microsoft 365 portal, you will be prompted to login to the Microsoft 365 site, portal.office.com, before access Sharepoint.
