On this page, the Learning Design team has assembled our most commonly used resources that faculty use to support their work in the classroom. In addition to the workshops and resources provided below, the team is also happy to meet with faculty individually or with departments for more specific support.

Workshops

The Learning Design team regularly offers workshops for faculty throughout the academic year. These workshops are offered to address common pedagogical problems, inspire innovative teaching, and introduce new ideas to our campus culture.

Teaching Modalities

The Learning Design team has created several resources that address the changing learning conditions over the past few years. Regardless of the teaching method, the team has created helpful information for effective and engaging learning. Below are the most commonly used resources:

  • Asynchronous Teaching: This document provides an overview for faculty on the processes involved in creating and launching a new asynchronous course.
  • Brightspace Course Design: This document provides basic guidelines for course design in the Brightspace Learning Management System, as well as tips and tricks to enhance your course. Additional design resources, such as banners and other graphics, can be found here.
  • Hybrid Classroom: This brief video provides faculty information and considerations for teaching hybrid courses. It addresses how to prepare for the class, and manage students once it has started.
  • Inclusive Pedagogy: The resources on this webpage support faculty in ensuring equitable and inclusive classroom experiences for all learners. 
  • Learning Loss: The impact of the pandemic on student learning will be felt for many years. These resources, help faculty assess if students are entering courses with any learning loss as well as strategies for supporting students in acquiring this learning.
  • Learning Outcomes: This page provides resources on how faculty can develop student learning outcomes and assess student learning throughout a course.
  • Mental Health: This page provides teaching resources to assist you with issues related to student mental health.
  • Teaching Resources: This comprehensive page provides a wide variety of teaching resources as well as teams supporting faculty.
