November 10The P&T Committee forwards its written recommendation to the P&T candidate and to the department chair

November 17Department Recommendation Letter due to Distinguished Lecturer (DL) Candidate
November 25-27Thanksgiving Break

  • The end of November is a good time to contact your faculty and start collecting for your administrative assistant’s holiday gift.
  • Check with your faculty on the status of necessary classroom visits/evaluations.
  • November and December - Chairs meet with BSC to discuss January forecast and FY27 budget

December 2026

December 1Department must submit Distinguished Lecturer application and accompanying department recommendation to P&T Committee, Dean, and Provost
December 4Senior Lecturer promotion requests due to Deans
December 7Waitlists close to students (Last day a student can add self to waitlist, also last day an offer would go out for the waitlist). Registrar clears waitlist on Dec 11th

Also in December:

  • By December 1 - Communicate and meet with Deans and Associate Deans about the department needs for the next recruitment cycle (Fall 2027).

January 2027

  • Early January - Welcome back email from Chairs – reminders for start of classes, etc.
  • It’s not too early to start talking to this year’s tenure and promotion candidates about the process and timetable outlined in the Faculty Manual.

    • Write evaluations and meet with faculty to discuss evaluations and profile
    • Schedule your meeting slot with your Dean to discuss
  • Review of Summer Grant Requests
  • Fall and Summer Course Scheduling discussions begin. In preparation for scheduling, reach out to your faculty for their fall schedule preferences, keeping in mind the need to teach the Discovery Seminar. Your Senior Associate Dean will reach out to you with guidance on scheduling.

May 27Catalog edits (courses or programs) for implementation in AY 2027-28 are due

  • Start talking to your faculty to get a sense of sabbatical plans and to encourage them to share a draft of their application with you before July 1 so that you can offer helpful guidance.
