Creative Industries

Creativity is necessary to bring new ideas to life—and to market.

In the Creative Industries major, you'll learn to use artistic talents to “break through” and reach target audiences. We explore how history, technology and culture drive demand, and teach you to collaborate, create and sell your work in a competitive business environment. You’ll study the basics of business, and gain specialized skills needed for careers in filmmaking, music, gaming, graphic design and other creative professions.

The Creative Industries degree is hands-on and can be customized to match your creative interests. Nearly two dozen elective courses are available, so you can make the degree your own.

The power of an arts and business degree

As an athlete in high school, Malakhai Pearson ’17 focused on sports and classwork, with little time for creative pursuits. That all changed during his first year at Bentley when his mother gave him a camera and Pearson found his true calling: telling stories with photos and videos. Pearson was one of Bentley’s first graduates in the Creative Industries major, which prepares students for a career that combines business with the arts and sciences. He credits the new major and friendships with other like-minded students for encouraging him to pursue his creativity.
