Learning Labs & Spaces

At the ATC, we design, renovate and provide technical support for classrooms, specialty labs, learning centers and spaces on campus. We work directly with Bentley Facilities Building and Planning Department, Architects, contractors, and consultants to build state-of-the art learning spaces so that our faculty can provide a transformational learning experience to our students.  For urgent classroom support - Call 781.891.ASK1 (2751)

Types of Learning Spaces

Collaboratory Learning Classroom

Collaboratory classrooms are designed in small workgroup format. There are 6 workstations that can seat up to six students per group. Each station has a 50” display, pc, keyboard, mouse and three rooms (Smith 210, 212, and 223) are equipped with tabletop microphones. These rooms also feature Lanschool software which allows the Instructor to display podium content, or the content from an individual station, across the entire room. The Instructors touch display controls what is shared via the projection screen. There is also additional whiteboard space for students to brainstorm. Students can connect their laptop via an HDMI cable located at each station. Classrooms in this configuration are in: Adamian 341, Smith 210, 212, 223 and Jennison 134, 209, 213, and 309.

Active learning classrooms, located in Jennison Hall, are equipped with tablet desks on casters allowing for ease of mobility and quick set up into small groups. Classrooms in this configuration are in: Jennison 200, 207, 215, 208, 307, 308, 310, 312, 313, 314, 315, 316, 400, 407, 408, 409, 410, 411, 412, 413, 414, 416, 421, and 422.

Commonly referred to as U-Shape, Interactive or Horse-shoe classrooms can accommodate 36 to 45 students, depending on the room. Surface top and under worksurfaces include power modules for student laptops. Network connections are also available in Adamian, Lindsay, and Smith Academic Buildings. This set up allow for Instructors to move through the center of the room to freely engage with students. Classrooms in this configuration are in: Adamian 141, 143, 260, 262, 360, 363, Lindsay 25, 27, 28, Jennison 210, 212, and Smith 101, 103, 114, 116, 118, 122, 201, 203, 214, 216, 218, 301, 303, 304, 305, and 307. 

Seminar Rooms

These rooms are smaller in size and accommodate up to 12 people. These rooms include either a conference table or tables on casters for mobility and quick reconfiguration. Classrooms in this configuration are in: Smith 112, and 119.
