Memoir Project - Chronicles of Your Life

Mission Statement

The main mission of the Chronicles of Your Life (Brookhaven Memoir Project) is to compile the important stories that standout in a resident’s life. These stories can be passed down to children, grandchildren, and future generations in an effort to provide a sense of family history and where they come from. Students are to prepare questions each week to ensure conversation, improving communication skills. Through this program, the residents will be able to pass down their legacies, while students get to connect to a different generation while enhancing their communication and writing skills.

Program Description

Chronicles of Your Life is a program where students from Bentley meet with Brookhaven Retirement Home residents to create memoir of their stories. One-on-one, students will meet with their resident to learn more about their lives. Brookhaven is a retirement facility where the average resident is eighty-five years old. Throughout the ten weeks, students will be writing about their life stories, so that the residents have a keepsake to pass down to their families about interesting and important stories. Students will work with two residents over the entire semester. After interviewing the residents, the students will write up these compelling stories to give to their residents.

Special Notes

Brookhaven conducts a supplementary own site CORI in addition to the Massachusetts CORI Background check.
