FAQ New and Prospective Students

Q: How do I apply?

A: We have open enrollment and there is no application process. Choose a course and you will be prompted to complete a registration form and submit payment. 

Q: What is the class/course format?

A: Each course is 2 day intensive on Thursday and Friday from 9am-5pm. 

Q: What is the tuition cost?

A: The cost of each course in the certificate program is $1,400. The UX Boot Camp, a week long program, is $6,000 total.

Q: Is there financial aid available?

A: No, financial aid does not apply to the certificate program.

Q: How many courses will it take to complete the Certificate Program?

A: There are total of 9 courses, 3 prerequisites and 6 electives. They can be taken at any time and in any order. Click to view details of required courses and elective options. 

Q: Do you have a listing of courses currently being offered?

A: Yes, click here to view the current Course Catalog.

Q: Do you offer courses in the summer?

A: No, fall and spring only. 

Q: When will the fall courses be posted?

A: We hope to have the courses posted by the end of June and registration will open shortly thereafter. 

Q: What the prerequisites of the UX Certificate Program?

A: You are required to have a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.

Q: What is the location of the program?

A: Bentley University, 175 Forest Street, Waltham MA.

Q: Are courses available online?

A: Yes, in a synchronized format. Remote students will participate real time and have access the class materials beforehand.

Q: Is there out of class work?

A: Yes, you will be given an assignment at the end of the course and will have 2 weeks to complete it. The work will be independent and not a group effort. The assignment usually takes 5-7 hours to complete.

Q: Do I receive a certificate?

A: Yes, upon completion of the program requirements. The process takes 6-8 weeks receive the certificate after the final grade is submitted.

Q: How long does certificate take to complete?

A: There are 9 courses and it can be completed as early as 1 year. The certificate is self-paced to meet the needs of working professionals. It requires 3 core courses and 6 electives that can be taken in any order.

Q: When is the next Information Session?

A: There are two information sessions throughout the year, in December and August.

FAQ Current Students

Q: Will I receive a Bentley ID and Bentley email?

A: Yes, after filling out a New Student Registration Form, you will receive an email within the 1-3 business days with your Bentley ID and instructions on how to setup your Bentley email.

Q: Do I need to purchase book(s) or other class material?

A: All class materials will be provided to you on the first day of class. A binder will be mailed to those attending remotely.

Q: Where can I see my grade(s) and how can I provide this information to my employer for reimbursement/support purposes?

A: After logging into MyBentley with your credentials, follow these instructions:

Click on the Academics Tab at the top, then click on the Academic Student Self-Service (left navigation), click on Main Menu

Click on Information Design Certificate Program Student Main Menu, then click on Academic Records Menu, you will be given an option to view Transcript Information (unofficial). To order an official transcript, please fill out the following form https://www.bentley.edu/offices/registrar
