Project Description
A global medical equipment manufacturer was in the midst of a redesign, and wanted to understand how professionals across clinical and administrative disciplines researched products they were considering. We devised several methods – card sorts, usability testing, and tree tests – that would help them create a more effective navigation.
Project Goals
- Gauge customer reactions to the company’s new visual design and content direction
- Provide insights that would drive the next iteration of the information architecture
- Learn more about how medical professionals across clinical and administrative specialties research and decide on medical equipment
Challenges
- Recruiting a highly specialized audience of medical professionals, including C-Suite decision makers
- Analyzing data across multiple segments and medical disciplines
Outcome
At the end of the project, the client had the insights needed to create more intuitive information architecture. They could then focus their future design efforts on optimizing their visual design and content strategy. In addition to the information architecture provided, they also gained valuable insight into the role different types of medical professionals play in the research and purchasing process for their high-end equipment.
