Insurance Requirements For Vendors

All contractors, vendors, or other service providers wishing to conduct business with Bentley University or provide other services are required to have their own insurance. This insurance is necessary to cover any claims or losses for which the contractor/vendor may be responsible.

Evidence of required insurance shall be submitted prior to the time of the contract execution or the rendering of services. Such evidence shall include the Bentley project name and number. The coverage and amounts below are minimum requirements and do not establish limits to the user's liability. Insurance coverage shown on certificate should match the insurance requirements made in the contract. Other coverage and higher limits may be provided at the user's option and expense. All of the following coverages are required from all subcontractors of any ties and material suppliers, if applicable, and it is the user's responsibility to monitor compliance.

Statutory Workers' Compensation, Employers Liability

(Not less than $500,000) Broad Form All States Coverage.
Waiver of subrogation in favor of Bentley University.

Commercial General Liability

Policy on an "OCCURRENCE" basis with coverage to include explosion, collapse and underground hazards (XCU), Blanket Contractual, Products, Completed Operations, Independent Contractors, Personal Injury and Employees as Additional Insured. "CLAIMS MADE" Form NOT Acceptable.

Limits:
$2,000,000 General Aggregate
$1,000,000 Products and Complete Operations Aggregate
$1,000,000 Personal and Advertising Injury
$1,000,000 Per Occurrence
$5,000 Medical Expense (any one person)

Required Endorsements:
*Additional Insured in favor of Bentley University
*Coverage applies on a primary/non-contributory basis
*Waiver of subrogation in favor of Bentley University
*Per project aggregate

Automobile Liability

Including owned, non-owned and hired automobiles.

Limits:
$1,000,000 Combined Single Limit for Property Damage/Bodily Injury

Required Endorsements:
*Additional Insured in favor of Bentley University
*Waiver of subrogation in favor of Bentley University

Umbrella Liability

To provide insurance in excess of Employers' Commercial General Liability and Automobile Liability policies required hereunder.

Limits:
$5,000,000 Each Occurrence
$5,000,000 General Policy Aggregate

Required Endorsements:
*Additional Insured in favor of Bentley University
*Waiver of subrogation in favor of Bentley University

Host Liquor Liability

If alcohol is served at client event, client shall have in force Host Liquor Liability.

Limits:
$1,000,000 Combined Single Limit

Required Endorsements:
*Additional insured in favor of Bentley University and the Nineteen Seventeen Club, Inc.
*Waiver of subrogation in favor of Bentley University and the Nineteen Seventeen Club, Inc.

Professional Liability

If contractor is providing a professional service (example: consulting, legal services, teaching/instruction, medical services), contractor should have in force Professional Liability coverage:

*$1,000,000 Combines single limit

Required Endorsements:
*Claims made forms are acceptable

Certificate of Insurance

All policies shall be written by insurance companies with an A.M. Best rating of A- or better and licensed to do business in the state of Massachusetts and be acceptable to Bentley University.

ALL Certificates of Insurance shall contain substantially the following statement: "Should any of the above described policies be canceled before their expiration date, the issuing company will mail THIRTY (30) days written notice to Bentley University."

Each insurance certificate must contain the following statements as evidence of the required endorsements:

  • Bentley University is to be named as an "Additional Insured" on a primary, non-contributing basis on the General Liability, Automobile and Umbrella Policies.
  • Waiver of Transfer of Rights of Recovery (or waiver of Subrogation) in favor of Bentley University applies on all policies.
  • General Liability General Aggregate is Per Project.
