Mark Frydenberg, senior lecturer of Computer Information Systems, received the Best Paper and Distinguished Paper awards at the EDSIG Conference on Information Systems and Computing Education.

Associate Professor of Law, Taxation and Financial Planning Mystica Alexander has been named the 2017 Charles M. Hewitt Master Teacher by the Academy of Legal Studies in Business.

Management Professors Tony Buono and Pat Flynn have been honored as  “PRME Pioneers” at the 2017 UN Global Compact PRME Global Forum, celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the PRME initiative.

Associate Professor of Sociology Gary David will become the President of the Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology at their October Annual Meeting.

Janis Gogan, Information and Process Management professor, successfully co-chaired AMCIS 2017, a preeminent information systems research conference conducted under the auspices of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), which attracted more than 1000 attendees from North America as well as other regions of the world. Gogan also was also honored as the Case Research Journal (CRJ) Outstanding Editorial Board Reviewer for 2017.

Assistant Professor of Natural and Applied Sciences Danielle Hartigan received a Gold Foundation grant for "Advancing Humanism in Anesthesiology: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review.” This $7,000 grant will initiate a study on patient-centered communication in healthcare settings.

Management Professor Tatiana Manolova and J. Onkelinx won the 2017 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence - Outstanding Author Contribution Winner for “The consequences of de-internationalization: Empirical evidence from Belgium,” appearing in Devinney, T., Markman G., Pedersen T., and Tihanyi L. (Eds.) Advances in International Management, Vol 29: Global Entrepreneurship: Past Present and FutureBingley, UK: Emerald Group Publishing.

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Natural and Applied Sciences Laura McNamee was invited to speak at the Biotechnology Industry Organizations  “Annual BIO Investor Forum” on a panel about translational research bottlenecks. October 17 in San Francisco, CA.

Associate Professor of Natural and Applied Sciences David Szymanski was inducted as a Fellow of the Geological Society of America at the fall meeting in Seattle in October 2017.

Computer Information Systems Professor Heikki Topi received the Distinguished Information Systems Educator award from the Education Special Interest Group (EDSIG) of the Association of Information Technology Professionals at the EDSIG annual conference in November 2017, where he delivered a keynote address.

Associate Professor of Information and Process Management Martin Wiener was nominated for the 2017 European Research Paper of the Year Award by CIONET — a leading community of IT executives in Europe with over 5,000 members.
