Extend your time in the U.S.

Optional Practical Training (commonly referred to as "OPT") is a benefit of your F-1 status. It allows 12 months of off-campus employment in the United States so you can get practical experience in your major field of study. Additionally, students who earn a degree with a STEM-designation may be eligible for an additional two years of OPT to work in the U.S. after completing their undergraduate degree.
