Bentley's Pay Program

Bentley's pay program provides fair and equitable pay levels that help to attract and retain the caliber of employees necessary to achieve the University's goals. Our pay program is designed with the following objectives in mind:

  • To be competitive within our marketplace
  • To ensure fiscal responsibility by being cost effective
  • To reward employee contribution and performance

All jobs included in our pay administration program require a position content document or job description. The "PCD" (Position Content Document) is used to compare the position to similar positions in the marketplace, assess the internal relationship of positions within the campus, communicate job duties and expectations, and recruit qualified employees.

A unique characteristic of our pay program is broadbanding and the use of salary bands. A "BAND" is a grouping of jobs and corresponding market pay levels for jobs with comparable job content and/or organizational level. Bands provide Bentley with the flexibility needed to respond quickly to changing needs while streamlining the administrative process. Bands also allow the University to focus on cross-training, individual career development, skill acquisition and advancement. The band width (band minimum and band maximum) is determined by the market salary of the lowest and highest job within the band.
